1 DAY SAILING TASTER

The Academy Sailing 1 Day Sailing Taster is perfect as a one day experience, as a gift for yourself or another, or to discover whether sailing large yachts is as good as you hope it is. Spoiler alert - it is!! 

 

At Academy Sailing, we want you to love sailing. It's our passion and so we love seeing the smiles on faces when the sails go up, the engine switches off, and the yacht gently heels over with the wind filling the sails. The only sound is the water as the yacht effortlessly powers its way along. The phrase "congratulations you are now sailing" are words we love saying. Please note that 1 Day Sailing Tasters can often be arranged on dates to suit you subject to availability.

The day starts with an introduction to the yacht over a cup of tea or coffee, and then issuing of equipment. We get you involved in readying the yacht for departure and then we are off! The whole point of the day is an easy introduction so there are no hair-raising weather expeditions. It's all gentle and aimed at it being fun with no pressure. 

We invite our guests to take the wheel under our close supervision and support. You help us get the sails up and experience sailing for the first time. Given these are large yachts weighing many tonnes, it's an awesome thing to feel the power of the wind being harnessed in perfect synergy with a form of transport more ancient than history books.

We serve a delicious lunch on-board, catering to dietary preferences, whilst tea, coffee and snacks are free-flowing all day. We want you to enjoy yourselves and come back for more. So, if you fancy trying yacht sailing, this could be the perfect introduction for you - or as a gift for someone special. From our base in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, we are close to London and easy to reach from across the east of England.

Pre-Event Requirements

​

  • Minimum age of 12. All Under 18's to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • No sailing experience required.
